Sample of our Summer Camp Program

For students 4 and up
  • Enjoy: a sensorial experience through making and using motion sand and play-dough (using natural food ingredients, they will make their own play-dough and be engaged in a specific theme)
  • Explore: One country a day.
  • Experiment: Using Scissors (skill building art)
  • Design: "I'm bored": Toys to make with what you find around (Recycled Art)
  • Discover: a country… of 4,000 islands, 500 volcanoes, 2,000 hot springs and known of its samurai and  kimonos: Japan
  • Create: Noah's Ark
  • Discover: the oldest continuous civilization in the world with its great wall: China
  • Create: Origami and other paper folding
  • Explore: the country of herbs and spice, home to the Taj-Mahal: India
  • Create: The Stone-Mouse
  • Explore: the country of 7,107 islands and 171 languages: The Philippines
  • Discover: The wonders of the world:  will explore the natural wonders and the post-1900 Wonders through books & videos 
  • Create: Make your own Mikado game
  • Dive: A little scientific journey in the deep waters: How can fish breath under water?; What do fish eat?; How do they protect themselves from predators? (a craft activity will be included).
  • Art Appreciation
    • We will talk about famous artists (life, century, interest in art as a child, etc.);
    • Specific techniques that made them unique and famous;
    • We will focus on one piece of art work;
    • We will have students tell us what they think about the masterpieces;
    • We will have students trace and paint their own version:  a/ Leonardo de Vinci and La Jaconde (Mona Lisa); b/Van Gogh and la chamber a Arles.

For students 8 and up

  • Painting with the Impressionists: Students will gain familiarity with the landscape works of Monet, Renoir and Cezanne
  • What is fun, educational and green all over: Recycled Art
  • Exploring the castles of France: Le chateau de Versailles, de Chantilly, de Chambord, Chenoncaux
  • Comics & Cartooning: Caricatures, comics and cartooning characters "whimsical drawings" from France/Belgium, Japan, and the United States.
    • France/Belgium: (bande dessinée)
Tintin, Asterix, Lucky Luck, Captain Haddock, Obelix, Gaston Lagaffe, les Schtroumpfs (The Smurfs), Babar
    • Japan: (Manga)
Akira, Dragon Ball, Astro Boy, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Pokémon Students will be taught drawing while exaggerating (in terms of scale) some physical features, such as large eyes, "dramatically shaped speech bubbles and speed lines.
    • United States: Captain America, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, The Hulk, Vladek Spiegleman, The Thing, Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, Betty Boop, Porky Pig, Bugs, Mickey Mouse, Bunny, Tom and Jerry, The Simpsons, Bambi, Donald Duck.
  • Green flowers: Make the recyclables bin bloom
  • Explore the country of Lotus: Vietnam
  • The Wonders of the World: Natural wonders, the pre-1900 Wonders, the post-1900 Wonders 
  • Exploring the museums of France: Le musée du Louvre
  • Explore a country of 4,000 islands, 500 volcanoes, 2,000 hot springs and known of its samurai and kimonos…Japan
  • Art Appreciation within a cultural and historical context :  ability to make aesthetic judgments about art works. We will provide the students with a meaningful experience of knowledge of the arts with the cultural and historical context in mind. So for a given set of art works, the following elements will be discussed: 
• Principles of Design 
• Virtual Field Trip: Elements and Principles 
• Historical and Cultural Context: understanding historical and cultural contributions;
• Creative Expression: by creating, performing, and participating
  • Explore the oldest continuous civilization in the world with its great wall: China
  • The 7 Underwater Wonders: explore each of the 7 wonders through texts, pictures and videos "It is all strange, unearthly, and yet familiar. Strange because the sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonders forever." Jacques-Yves Cousteau
  • Explore the country of herbs and spice, home to the Taj-Mahal: India
  • A scientific journey in the deep waters: How can fish breath under water?; What do fish eat ?; How do they protect themselves from predators ? and much more
  • Exploring the flavors of France: Some classic recipes for a baking and cooking experience followed by a tasting
  • Explore the country of 7,107 islands and 171 languages: The Philippines
  • “The Back to” Series with a linguistic twist: The back to ancient civilizations will focus on discussing how people use to leave centuries ago and how they mastered some amazing skills. We will use audio-visuals material such as 3-D reconstruction of cities. This series will emphasis on the Greek and Latin languages and how they relate to some of our commonly used language as the ancestors languages.
